ECLIPSE SEASON IS HEREEEEE 🌑✨ and August has two major eclipses that could bring some BIG shifts around identity, visibility, relationships, creativity, intuition, endings and the direction you're heading next.
🌑 August 12 - Total Solar Eclipse in Leo, around 20° Leo
This is a South Node Solar Eclipse in Leo, which is REALLY important because South Node eclipses are often connected to release, completion, clearing and recognizing the identities, patterns, relationships and ways of seeking validation that we've already started to outgrow.
Because this eclipse is happening in Leo, we're looking directly at our relationship with visibility, confidence, creativity, leadership, recognition, romance, pleasure, self-expression and our willingness to take up space, while also being asked to look at WHY we want to be seen and how much power we've been giving other people to determine whether we feel worthy, successful, talented or good enough.
Leo naturally wants to shine, create, express itself and be witnessed, and those qualities aren't something we're being asked to lose, but the South Node can expose where that desire to be seen has become tangled up with needing applause, approval, attention, praise or recognition before we're willing to trust ourselves.
So this eclipse could bring up some BIG realizations around where you've been performing instead of expressing yourself honestly, where you've been changing parts of yourself depending on who's watching, where you've been waiting for somebody else to choose you before choosing yourself, or where you've been chasing recognition from people who were never capable of giving you the validation you wanted in the first place.
It could also illuminate the identities you've become attached to because they're familiar, successful, impressive or accepted by the people around you, even though privately you already know you're becoming somebody different and the old version of you doesn't fit in the same way anymore.
This is where the South Node piece becomes SO interesting because sometimes growth isn't about adding another goal, another identity, another achievement or another version of yourself to become, because some of the biggest movement happens when you finally release the version of yourself who believed she had to prove something before she was allowed to have what she wanted.
You might find yourself questioning who you're trying to impress, why certain people's opinions still carry so much weight, why being misunderstood feels so uncomfortable, or why you're still trying to receive validation from an audience, relationship, industry, family member or community that you've already outgrown.
Old Leo stories could also come back around during this eclipse, especially experiences connected to being seen, rejected, celebrated, ignored, chosen, overlooked or criticized, because South Node eclipses can bring unfinished material back into our awareness so we can see how differently we respond now.
You could find yourself thinking about an old relationship, an old dream, something creative you abandoned, a period when you felt incredibly confident, or even a moment when somebody made you feel like being loud, ambitious, expressive, glamorous, emotional, creative or visible was somehow too much.
That doesn't automatically mean you're supposed to return to the past, because sometimes something resurfaces simply because you're finally ready to understand it differently and stop allowing it to dictate what you do next.
The bigger evolutionary story is happening across the Leo-Aquarius axis, with the South Node moving through Leo and the North Node moving through Aquarius, which shifts some of our collective focus away from individual recognition and toward Aquarius themes of community, collaboration, freedom, originality, contribution and finding the people who genuinely understand what we're here to create.
You still get to shine, you still get to want success, visibility, recognition, creativity, pleasure and a life that feels exciting to you, but you might become much less interested in twisting yourself into whatever version of you receives the biggest round of applause.
This eclipse could ask you to look at who you are when you're no longer performing for the audience, what you actually want when nobody else's opinion gets a vote, what you're exhausted from proving and which version of yourself has already completed her job.
That's why this eclipse could feel like a huge identity shedding, especially if you have planets or angles close to 20° of the fixed signs, because sometimes becoming more visible doesn't begin with doing MORE, it begins with releasing all the ways you've learned to edit yourself before anybody else gets the chance to see you.
You don't need to force a huge decision on eclipse day or have your entire next chapter mapped out perfectly, but pay very close attention to what suddenly feels finished, what you're tired of performing, what you're ready to stop proving and where you feel an increasingly strong desire to choose yourself without waiting for permission.
Then later this month, we get a VERY different eclipse...
🌕 August 27-28 - Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, around 4° Pisces
This is where the emotional release can become much stronger because lunar eclipses often bring culminations, revelations, endings and moments where something that's been developing underneath the surface becomes impossible to ignore, while Pisces takes us into intuition, spirituality, dreams, compassion, surrender, imagination and our relationship with what we can't necessarily explain logically.
Pisces can also show us where we've been escaping, avoiding, romanticizing, overgiving, sacrificing ourselves, ignoring boundaries or becoming attached to somebody's potential instead of looking at what they're actually showing us, so this eclipse could bring a pretty major reality check around something you've wanted to believe, hoped would change or struggled to release.
You might suddenly see a relationship differently, realize you've been giving too much energy to something that isn't giving enough back, understand why a particular emotional pattern keeps repeating, feel ready to strengthen a boundary or finally acknowledge something your intuition has been trying to tell you for a VERY long time.
Old emotions can come to the surface around this eclipse too, because Pisces doesn't always process things neatly or logically, and sometimes grief, disappointment, memories or feelings we thought we'd dealt with can return because we're finally in a position to feel them differently and let some of that emotional weight move through us.
Your intuition could also become incredibly loud around this eclipse, and the information might arrive through dreams, synchronicities, physical sensations, creative ideas, conversations or a knowing that doesn't immediately come with a perfectly organized explanation.
The contrast between these two eclipses is SO interesting because Leo asks: Who are you ready to become when you stop hiding? Pisces asks: What needs to dissolve so you can actually become her?
One eclipse can illuminate the identity you're ready to shed and the ways you've been seeking permission to become somebody new, while the other can reveal the emotional patterns, fantasies, attachments or old stories that need to be released so you actually have room for that next version of your life.
That's why eclipse season can sometimes feel like somebody picked up your life and shook it slightly, because relationships can change, friendships can shift, business directions can evolve, creative ideas can suddenly become impossible to ignore, something you've tolerated for years can become unbearable, or something you've secretly wanted can become much harder to pretend you don't want.
Your PERSONAL eclipse story depends massively on your chart, because the house containing 20° Leo shows where the Solar Eclipse is activating themes of release, identity and visibility for you, while the house containing 4° Pisces shows where something could culminate, become clearer or need emotional release.
If either eclipse closely aspects your Sun, Moon, Rising, Midheaven or another natal planet, you may experience these themes much more personally, which is why two people can move through the exact same eclipse season and have completely different experiences.
This is also why I don't treat eclipses like regular manifestation moons where everybody needs to frantically script 900 affirmations, light seventeen candles and panic because they forgot to charge their water before midnight. 😂
Eclipse season is incredible for observing what's changing, noticing what you're suddenly questioning, listening to the conversations happening around you, paying attention to what keeps returning to your awareness and being willing to admit when something you've been holding onto doesn't fit anymore.
You don't need to force an answer immediately, because sometimes eclipse season makes perfect sense while you're living through it and sometimes you look back six months later and realize THAT was the moment the entire plot started changing.
